New crochet project with a nautical touch

It was time for a new blanket for on board!
Faithful followers may know that we have a different boat since last year.
In the previous boat we slept in the point and to protect the bed and keep it clean I had designed a bedspread in the same shape.

But in our new boat we have a lockable sleeping cabin and so a bedspread is not so necessary anymore.

​Het werd tijd voor een nieuwe deken voor aan boord!
Trouwe volgers weten misschien wel dat wij sinds vorig jaar een andere boot hebben.
In de vorige boot sliepen wij in de punt en om het bed te beschermen en netjes te houden had ik hiervoor een sprei in dezelfde vorm ontworpen.

​Maar in onze nieuwe boot hebben wij een afsluitbare slaapcabine en is dus een sprei niet meer zo noodzakelijk.

Then my eye fell on the colorpacks of Scheepjes Softfun and especially on the Cloud version.
I fell in love with this color palette.
I'm quite capable of choosing colors myself, but sometimes it's just very handy if this is already done for you!

Maar een deken aan boord is zeker wel noodzakelijk!
Ik had natuurlijk wel dekens aan boord, maar nog geen speciaal gemaakt voor onze Cheni.
Toen viel mijn blik op de colourpacks van Scheepjes Softfun en dan speciaal op de Cloud versie.
Ik was op slag verliefd op dit kleuren pallet.
Op zich ben ik zelf heel goed in staat om kleuren bij elkaar te kiezen, maar soms is het ook gewoon heel handig als dit al voor je gedaan wordt!

Now all my attention could go to designing a blanket.
I had a list of wishes for this blanket.
He had to be nice and thick, but with a nice drape.
He had to be washing machine friendly
It should preferably be nice for all (sailing) seasons.
It had to be both beautiful to look at and practical.

And I must say that it actually meets all the requirements, partly due to the choice of yarn...

Nu kon al mijn aandacht gaan naar het ontwerpen van een deken.
Ik had een aantal punten waaraan mijn nieuwe ontwerp moest voldoen.
Hij moest lekker dik worden, maar wel soepel.
Hij moest in de wasmachine kunnen.
Hij moest bijvoorkeur fijn zijn voor alle (vaar)seizoenen.
Hij moest zowel mooi om te zien zijn als praktisch.

En ik moet zeggen dat hij eigenlijk mede door de garen keuze wel aan alle eisen voldoet...
